EzDesign is a locally installed desktop application. We are committed to your privacy. We collect only the limited information necessary to process purchases, manage software licenses, and provide access to the Software. We do not collect your design files, project content, usage analytics, or telemetry data.

This Privacy Policy explains the limited data interaction that occurs when you use EzDesign and how we handle it.

3. What Data We Collect (and What We Don't)

What we DO NOT collect

  • Your design files, models, or project data — these remain entirely on your device
  • Usage data, analytics, or telemetry
  • We do not collect personal information directly through the Software beyond the information required to process purchases and manage software licenses.
  • Crash reports or diagnostic data

The only server interaction: License Verification

When you launch EzDesign, the application sends a license verification request to our servers. This request contains:

Device identifiers and software version information are used solely for license management, compatibility verification, security, and support purposes. We do not use this information for analytics, profiling, advertising, or tracking your activity outside of license verification.

When you connect to our license verification services, our servers may automatically generate technical logs, such as IP addresses, timestamps, and request metadata, for security, fraud prevention, and operational purposes. These logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary.

Your purchase is processed by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record ("MoR"). Payment data, including credit card details and billing information, is collected and processed by Lemon Squeezy, and we do not receive or store your full payment card information. Lemon Squeezy may appear as the seller of record on receipts, invoices, or card statements. 4. How We Use the Data

We use the license verification data solely to:

  • Confirm your license is valid
  • Prevent unauthorized use of the Software
  • Manage the number of device activations associated with your license

We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data with the following categories of service providers and in the following circumstances:

  • Merchant of Record (Lemon Squeezy). Lemon Squeezy processes purchases, payments, taxes, refunds, and related transaction records on our behalf. We receive certain transaction information, such as customer contact details, order information, and license-related information, but we do not receive or store full payment card details.
  • Hosting and Infrastructure Providers. We use third-party service providers, including Hetzner and Supabase, to host and operate our license verification and related services. These providers may process personal data solely for the purpose of providing infrastructure, database, security, and operational support services on our behalf.
  • Legal Requirements. We may disclose personal data if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, users, or the security of our services.

6. Data Retention

License keys and device identifiers are retained for as long as your license is active, and for a reasonable period thereafter for dispute resolution purposes.

Upon a valid deletion request, we will delete or anonymize personal data where required by applicable law, subject to our legal, contractual, and fraud-prevention obligations.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect the limited data we hold. License verification communications are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

8. Your Rights

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom:

Under GDPR (and UK GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data (subject to our retention obligations)
  • Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your data
  • Objection: Object to our processing of your data
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format

We will respond within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK, or your EU member state's supervisory authority).

Legal basis for processing (GDPR): We process license verification data on the basis of contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — it is necessary to perform the license agreement with you.

EzDesign is intended for professional and general users and is not directed to children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
